August 19, 2017: Kicking Horse Hill Climb (13.5km/555m)
THE ORIGINAL GOLDEN GRIND
Test your climbing power on this mass start, 13.8 km, 500 m elevation, UCI category 2 climb. Starting at the iconic timber-frame pedestrian bridge in the scenic Golden, BC Spirit Square, you will race along the Kicking Horse River as the lead-in to the confluence with the Columbia River, crossing the wood-planked bridge to begin the >10km climb up to Kicking Horse Mountain Resort. One of the few wheel-to-wheel, long hill climb races in the area, bring your poker face, big lungs and ability to truly Drill-It, there’s $500 on the line this year for the fSTEST female finishing under 35 minutes and $100 for the male finisher under $30 minutes and a $100 bonus for beating Warren Muir’s 28:57 current record time.
Dropped Elite Open participants are not allowed to work-with, or participate-in, the Sportive category peletons or racers so as to not impact that race category dynamic.

START: 4:00 pm (Elite Men), 4:05 pm (Elite Women), 4:15 pm (Sportive Men), 4:20 (Sportive Women)
